Humboldt Education Foundation awarded Organization of the Year by Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce

On July 19, 2019, the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce awarded Humboldt Education Foundation the Organization of the Year. The festivities were part of the Chamber’s 45th Anniversary Celebration dubbed “A Sapphire Extravaganza”. In addition to Community Excellence Award, the event featured the annual banquet and introduction of the 2019-20 chamber board of directors and officers.

Humboldt Education Foundation was recognized by the Chamber for their work providing community support for excellence in education and for contributing to the educational experiences that impact the lives of students in the Humboldt Unified School District.

The Foundation received kudos for the support and administration of the Hungry Kids Project for the District, which was inspired by board member Carm Staker, founder of Hungry Kids. The project serves the children of the District who have been recommended by school staff as those who may not have access to adequate weekend meals. Over 180 students are provided food on weekends, during the school year.

Other Foundation projects include presentation of Teacher of the Year, scholarship grants for graduating seniors, classroom grants for special projects, and a recently added Student Orchestra Project. In March each year the Foundation recognizes teachers, nominated by students, at a banquet sponsored by local businesses and community partners. The scholarships and grants help further education, and improve learning and teaching skills.

James Clemens, President of the Humboldt Education Foundation was at the event to receive the Organization of the Year award and said that it was quite an honor and that the Board was truly appreciative of the recognition. Mr. Clemens also added that the Foundation is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization and an approved State of Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organization for Arizona Tax Credit program.
